Descrizione:2-Chlorobenzyl-N-methylamine is a benzoxazole that has been shown to have antihypertensive activity. It is an oxidant and also has the ability to inhibit the oxidation of amines, which may be due to its efficient electron transfer. 2-Chlorobenzyl-N-methylamine can be used as an additive for animal feed, or as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of benzylamine derivatives. In vitro studies show that it reduces blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin II production and increasing vasodilation. This drug also inhibits phosphodiesterase activity, leading to increased levels of cAMP and suppression of the renin–angiotensin system.
