Descrizione:
Propham is a model system that consists of a nutrient solution containing prostate cancer cells and primary cells. It is used as a tool for studying mitochondrial functions, such as the regulation of mitochondrial membrane potential and the effects of reactive oxygen species on these mitochondria. Propham has been shown to induce cell death in prostate cancer cells by decreasing the mitochondrial membrane potential. The mechanism of this effect is unknown but may be due to an increase in reactive oxygen species generation or inhibition of ATP synthesis. Propham has also been used to study the long-term toxicity and toxicological effects of chemicals on cells.
