Descrizione

5-Methyl-L-tryptophan is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of the amino acid tryptophan. It is a precursor to the cofactors nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) and participates in many other biochemical reactions. 5-Methyl-L-tryptophan has been shown to have anticarcinogenic properties, which may be due to its ability to regulate gene expression and growth. This compound has also been used as an analytical tool for identifying bacteria with high resistance and mutant strains.
