Descrizione:Glyhexamide is a drug that was first used in the 1950s as a metabolic agent for patients with diabetes. It is an analog of meglitinide and has been shown to have antidiabetic and insulin sensitizing properties. Glyhexamide also has the ability to bind to magnesium ions, which may be important in its mechanisms of action. This drug has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and decrease blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and can be used in combination with other drugs, such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, for this purpose. Glyhexamide also increases coronary heart disease risk factors by enhancing the effects of insulin on lipids and by increasing the risk of congestive heart failure.
