Descrizione:Hydrofuramide is a chemotherapy agent that has shown anticancer activity. It is used to treat skin cancer, especially in patients with a history of radiation or other therapy. Hydrofuramide has been shown to be effective against virus-induced tumors and also has an effect on skin tests. Hydrofuramide reacts with amines and imines to form furyl compounds, which are cytotoxic agents. Furfural is produced as a byproduct of this reaction and can react with DNA, causing a break in the strands of the molecule. This break in the DNA molecule prevents cells from dividing and leads to cell death. Hydrofuramide also binds covalently with 5-membered heteroaryl groups, such as taxol, which inhibits the growth of cells by preventing RNA transcription and protein synthesis.
