Hispidin is a natural compound with potential as a drug target. It is found in the plant Linteus, and has been shown to inhibit several enzymes, including those involved in energy metabolism. Hispidin has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects on bowel disease, but little is known about its effect on infectious diseases. The molecule has been shown to have high resistance against reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can lead to cellular damage and cell death. Hispidin is a potent inhibitor of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), which plays an important role in the inflammatory response. It is believed that hispidin may be useful for treatment of skin cells.
