• Descrizione: 2-Carboxy-4,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid (2CMB) is a low molecular weight compound that is synthesized by the trimethylation of tylophorine. Its pentamethoxy derivative, 2CMB penta-O-methyl ester, can be found in ipecac. The acetylation of 2CMB leads to 4-hydroxybenzoic acid as a residue. Thermophilic bacteria produce 2CMB from 4-hydroxybenzoic acid through decarboxylation and oxidation. This metabolic product is also found in the fermentation broth of some strains of yeast.
