It is an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme cyclooxygenase and block the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. N-Methylacetanilide has been shown to have a dose-dependent inhibitory effect on the release of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in mice with inflammatory diseases. This drug also has a kinetic effect on hydrogen chloride, with an effective dose of 1.0 mg per kg body weight.
