Descrizione:3-Chloro-o-xylene is a trifluoroacetic acid that is used in the production of polychlorinated biphenyls. 3-Chloro-o-xylene is also used as an additive in products such as paints, lacquers, and varnishes. It is also used to produce perchloroethylene, a solvent for cleaning metal parts. The chemical reaction of 3-chloro-o-xylene with hydrogen sulfate produces hydrogen chloride and sulfuric acid; the chlorine atom can then react with biphenyl to form chlorobiphenyls. The addition of a metal ion catalyst promotes the oxidation of 3-chloro-o-xylene to produce chlorine gas, which can be used as an oxidizer in organic synthesis or as a bleaching agent for pulp mills.
