Descrizione:3-Benzylpyridine is a heterocycle that is structurally similar to pyridine. This compound has been used as an additive in the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and as a viscosity regulator. It was also found to be potent inducers of glutathione-S-transferase activity, which may be related to its use as a preservative for food. 3-Benzylpyridine can also be used to control levels of diarylmethanes and sulfadiazine, which are effective against bacteria. 3-Benzylpyridine has shown anticancer effects, but it is not yet known how this compound exerts its effect on cancer cells.
