Descrizione:Crotonic anhydride is a peroxisome proliferation agent that has been used in the study of fatty acid synthesis. It has been shown to crosslink enzymes and alter their activities. Crotonic anhydride reacts with hydroxyl groups, alkynyl groups, and functional groups, including amino acids. This results in a change in the structure of proteins and enzymes, which can have an effect on enzyme activity. Crotonic anhydride also stimulates peroxisome proliferation. The activation energies for crotonic anhydride are low at neutral pH and it is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene, chloroform, dichloromethane, ethers, etc. The chemical formula for crotonic anhydride is CH3COCRO2H.
