Descrizione:Farnesalacetone-d6 is an active form of farnesylacetone that inhibits the synthesis of cholesterol in vitro. It has been shown to have anti-hypertensive properties and inhibitory properties on energy metabolism, which may be due to its ability to alter the biochemistry of fatty acid synthesis. Farnesalacetone-d6 has been synthesized by reacting acetone with geranyl acetate in the presence of glycyrrhizin, a natural product found in licorice root, and then hydrolyzing the acetyl ester groups with water. The compound was identified by analyzing its infrared spectrum and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum. Farnesalacetone-d6 is bound as a compound in vivo and can be isolated from glycyrrhiza species.
