Diethyl glutarate is a hydroxyl-containing antimicrobial agent that has been shown to be a strong inhibitor of bacterial growth. It also exhibits strong bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Diethyl glutarate is used in the treatment of microbial infections and was found to be effective against organisms resistant to other antibiotics.
