Descrizione:(E)-3-(4-Methylphenyl)-2-propenoic acid is a chlorinated cinnamic acid derivative that inhibits the formation of (E)-3-(4-methylphenyl)-2-propenoic acid. The rate of formation of (E)-3-(4-methylphenyl)-2-propenoic acid is inhibited by the presence of phosphorus pentachloride. It is also possible to synthesize 4-hydroxycinnamic acid, which has a similar inhibitory effect on the formation of (E)-3-(4-methylphenyl)-2-propenoic acid. This inhibition may be due to the polarizability and molecule size of (E)-3-(4-methylphenyl)-2-propenoic acid. The chloride ion can also affect this reaction through hydrogen bonding interactions with the fatty acids in (E)-3-(4-methylphenyl)-2-propenoic
