Descrizione:2-Aminohexadecane-1,3-diol is a natural product that belongs to the group of polyketides. It has been isolated from the algae Acanthophora spicifera, Sargassum muticum, and Dendroides canadensis. 2-Aminohexadecane-1,3-diol has been shown to have antioxidant properties and may be effective in treating various bacterial infections. This compound also has antibiotic activity against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and multidrug resistant Enterobacteriaceae isolates. 2-Aminohexadecane-1,3-diol inhibits bacterial growth by binding to ribosomes and blocking protein synthesis. The compound also binds to DNA at the topoisomerase I sites of bacteria and inhibits DNA replication.
