Dasotraline is a drug that belongs to the class of dopamine receptor agonists. It is being developed for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, restless leg syndrome, and depression. Dasotraline binds to dopamine receptors in the brain, which are thought to be involved in motor control and mood regulation. The drug has been studied in clinical trials for its potential therapeutic effects on symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Results from these studies show that patients taking dasotraline experienced relief from their symptoms, including lessened tremors, muscle rigidity and slower movement. A study involving restless leg syndrome found that patients taking dasotraline experienced reduced symptoms such as sleep disturbances, unpleasant sensations, or pain in their legs. Clinical trials with depression have not yet been completed.
