Kanamycin A is a natural antibiotic with antiparasitic and antiviral properties. It inhibits the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and protein. Kanamycin A is also an effective treatment for parasitic infections. This antibiotic can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Kanamycin A has been shown to have antiviral effects against HIV-1 virus and influenza virus in vitro (in an artificial environment outside of living cells). It also has antifungal activity against Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans.
