Descrizione

Erythromycin C is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been used in vitro to study chronic cough and as a treatment for streptococcal pharyngitis. Erythromycin C has also been shown to inhibit bacterial growth in wastewater treatment, which may be due to its ability to bind with DNA-dependent RNA polymerase and prevent transcription and replication. The biological properties of erythromycin C are similar to those of erythromycin A, but it is less effective against gram-positive bacteria. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
