It can be obtained by reacting vinyl acetate with an enantiomerically pure form of 3,7-dihydro-1-(5R)-hydroxyhexyl)-3,7-dimethyl-1H purine 2,6(3H) dione. This reaction is catalyzed by immobilized lipase and the yield depends on the parameters used. The single crystal x ray diffraction technique has been used to investigate the structure of this compound.
