Isomitomycin A is a section compound that inhibits tumor growth by binding to the active site of the enzyme proton. Isomitomycin A has been shown to inhibit tumor growth in mice with implanted melanoma cells. The mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it may be due to inhibition of VEGF-mediated angiogenesis by blocking the extracellular matrix degradation. Isomitomycin A has also been shown to have metal coordination properties and can be used as a calibration agent for polarizers.
