Descrizione

Lonomycin calcium is a cation channel inhibitor that binds to the regulatory domain of the voltage-gated calcium channel and blocks the influx of both Ca2+ and Na+. Lonomycin calcium has been shown to inhibit epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) activation, which may be due to its ability to bind EGFR with high affinity. This binding inhibits the activation of downstream signaling pathways such as phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/Akt, extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2), and mitogen-activated protein kinase 1/2 (MAPK1/2). Lonomycin calcium is also an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of cancer cells by inhibiting cell proliferation.
