Descrizione:BH3I-1 is a potent inhibitor of the Bcl-2 family of proteins that are involved in apoptosis. It has been shown to be effective against a range of tumor cell lines, including prostate cancer cells and human leukemia cells. The molecular target for BH3I-1 is the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is required for the production of ATP and maintenance of cellular homeostasis. In a panel of radiation-resistant tumor cell lines, BH3I-1 potently inhibited growth and induced morphological changes. This molecule also inhibits dimorphic fungi such as Candida glabrata, which can cause opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients.
