Descrizione:LY518674 is a small-molecule inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) that has been shown to be effective in animal models of atherosclerosis and insulin resistance. LY518674 binds to the active site of PTP1B and inhibits its activity by binding to the phosphate group of ATP, which is required for the activation of PTP1B. LY518674 has also been shown to increase glucose uptake in skeletal muscle cells. The compound has not been tested in humans yet but it is anticipated that it will have a similar effect on human cells as it does on animal cells. LY518674 may be used as an oral treatment for metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes.
