Descrizione

Tylosin is a sulfa drug that inhibits the growth of bacteria by inhibiting bacterial synthesis of folic acid, an essential component of bacterial cell walls. It is also used to treat infectious diseases caused by bacteria. Tylosin can be toxic if administered in high doses or for prolonged periods. The toxicity may be due to its ability to inhibit cellular respiration and interfere with oxidative phosphorylation. Tylosin tartrate is a water-soluble form of tylosin that has been shown to have less toxicity than the anhydrous form.
