Descrizione:GSK1940029 is a novel anti-inflammatory drug with a potency of about 150 times that of secukinumab. It is an antagonist for IL-17, which has been shown to be involved in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. GSK1940029 blocks the action of IL-17 by binding to its receptor and preventing it from binding to target cells. In a rat model, GSK1940029 had a tolerability profile similar to placebo, with no adverse effects on weight gain or feed consumption. GSK1940029 has also been shown to have systemic exposure and is not dependent on sebaceous glands or skin thickness for efficacy. In addition, it has been shown that GSK1940029 can prevent the occlusion of hair follicles in mice models, which are often found in people with psoriasis.
