Descrizione:Encenicline is a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist that has been shown to improve cognition and ameliorate symptoms of schizophrenia in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Encenicline binds to the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor and mimics the effect of acetylcholine by stimulating postsynaptic cells in the brain. Encenicline is also under investigation as a potential biomarker for pharmacological agents that affect cognitive function. These properties may be due to its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and stimulate postsynaptic cells in the brain. Encenicline has good oral bioavailability and low plasma protein binding, which enables it to reach therapeutic concentrations quickly.
