Descrizione:Mullite is an inorganic compound that is a form of silicon dioxide. It is chemically and physically similar to the mineral quartz, but with the silicon dioxide replaced by aluminium oxide. Mullite has a low-temperature synthesis method that involves heating a mixture of sodium citrate, boron nitride, and water vapor. The reaction mechanism for this process includes ionization of water vapor molecules to produce hydroxide ions and hydrogen gas. The kinetic data for mullite formation indicates a high resistance to chemical reactions at high temperatures and stability against thermal expansion.
