Descrizione:Mercuric sulphide red is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of inorganic compounds. It has a phase transition temperature of -42°C, and is soluble in water. Mercuric sulphide red is toxic to humans and animals, and has been shown to cause skin cancer in mice. This compound has been shown to inhibit transcriptional regulation by binding to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) enzyme, DNA polymerase. Mercuric sulphide red also binds with copper chloride and reacts with ATP, forming an adduct which inhibits the enzyme's ability to synthesize DNA. Mercuric sulphide red can be used as an energy substrate for cells because it undergoes oxidation-reduction reactions with NADH or NADPH. The reaction mechanism for this process is currently unknown but may involve interactions between cysteine residues on the protein and reactive oxygen species.
