Descrizione:Cantharidic acid is an anticancer agent that inhibits the energy metabolism of cancer cells by inhibiting the activity of key enzymes, such as phosphatase and cyclase. It has been shown to be effective in inducing antibody response in mice and reducing the number of regulatory T-cells. Cantharidic acid also induces apoptosis through a regulatory element, which may be responsible for the potent immunosuppressive effects of cantharidic acid. Clinical studies have found cantharidic acid to be effective against infectious diseases caused by bacteria, such as Salmonella and Staphylococcus.
