Isopropyl hydrogen methylphosphonate is a reactive chemical that has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity. It also reacts with hydroxyl groups, which are found in small amounts in the human body. Isopropyl hydrogen methylphosphonate is used in the production of sarin gas, which is a potent neurotoxin that was used as a chemical weapon by Iraq during the Iran-Iraq War and by terrorists in Japan. Isopropyl hydrogen methylphosphonate also inhibits cancer cell proliferation and has magnetic properties.
