It is used to increase the reactivity of epoxides, which are important additives in coatings and adhesives. 9,10-Dibutoxyanthracene can be used as a reactive focus for cationic polymerization and has been shown to accelerate UV irradiation-induced reactions. 9,10-Dibutoxyanthracene has also been shown to interact with acrylates and silicones and can be used for the synthesis of coatings containing these chemicals. 9,10-Dibutoxyanthracene is also effective in molecular modeling studies.
