Equisetin is a chemical pesticide that inhibits acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. It has been shown to have biological effects in animal studies, including inhibition of bowel disease and transfer reactions. Equisetin has also been shown to be effective against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria. The mechanism of action of equisetin is not completely understood but it may be due to its ability to bind to cell surface glycoproteins and inhibit the synthesis of cyclic peptides, which are important for infectious disease development.br>br>Equisetin has also been shown in vitro to inhibit mitochondrial functions and chemical biology, as well as autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes.
