Descrizione:5-Chloro-2-methoxy-4-methylpyridine is a benzophenone that is used as a fungicide. It prevents the growth of fungi by inhibiting their ability to produce sterols, which are necessary for cell membrane production. It is effective against plant diseases caused by fungi such as Alternaria, Rhizoctonia and Botrytis. 5-Chloro-2-methoxy-4-methylpyridine has been found to be an effective bactericide against some Gram positive bacteria, but not all Gram negative bacteria. The stability of this compound in water and its low toxicity makes it a good candidate for use in fungicidal compositions.
