Promecarb is a carbamate pesticide that inhibits acetylcholinesterase and prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine, resulting in prolonged stimulation of muscles. Promecarb’s chemical stability has been shown to be superior to other pesticides, such as carbofuran and carbaryl. Promecarb can be used as a fluorescent derivative for sample preparation or as a cationic surfactant during on-line analytical methods. The surface methodology can be used to measure electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) as an alternative method for detecting pesticides in water samples.
