Dimethyl (methylsulfanyl)(sulfanylidene)phosphonite is a toxicant for animals and can cause lung toxicity. The toxicity of dimethyl (methylsulfanyl)(sulfanylidene)phosphonite depends on its impurities, such as 7-ethoxycoumarin. The metabolism of dimethyl (methylsulfanyl)(sulfanylidene)phosphonite in humans has been studied using liver microsomes from different species and tissues.
