Descrizione:2-Methylhexadecanoic Acid is a fatty acid that is an important component of the phospholipid membrane in animal cells. It is also used as a cationic surfactant and has been shown to have anticancer properties. 2-Methylhexadecanoic Acid can be found in pharmaceutical preparations and may help treat x-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, a neurological disorder caused by a lack of this fatty acid. 2-Methylhexadecanoic Acid has been shown to increase the glomerular filtration rate when given intravenously, which may be due to its ability to induce vasodilatation. This compound also interacts with the hydroxyl group of two molecules of ethanolamine, forming a new compound called hexadimethrine bromide that appears to have pharmacokinetic properties similar to those of hexadimethrine chloride.
