Nelumol A is a natural product that belongs to the indole alkaloid class of compounds and is isolated from the leaves of the Rubiaceae plant. It has been shown to have inhibitory effects on glioblastoma cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit RNA synthesis. Nelumol A also inhibits the growth of biliary cirrhosis cells, which are characterized by their morphological changes. This compound was found to induce apoptosis in these cells by inhibiting protein synthesis. Nelumol A has also been shown to have inhibitory effects on cancer cells and liver fibrosis in mouse models, as well as anti-inflammatory properties. The biological properties of Nelumol A are thought to be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis through gene regulation and inhibition of protein synthesis at the translational level.
