2,3,23-Trihydroxy-12-oleanen-28-oic acid (THA) is a naturally occurring compound that has been shown to activate cell signaling pathways and mitochondrial membrane potential. It is also a reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenger and an antioxidant. THA has been shown to inhibit the activity of arjunolic acid (AA), which is the precursor for the production of lipids in fat cells. This inhibition leads to a decrease in fat accumulation, resulting in a reduction in hepatic steatosis and obesity. THA also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as an anti-infective agent against infectious diseases such as malaria.
