2-Hydroxy-4-methylbenzophenone is a chemical that is used as an additive for paints, plastics, and other materials. It has been shown to be irritant to the skin and eyes, but does not cause any adverse effects in the circulatory system. 2-Hydoxy-4-methylbenzophenone can also be found in solvents such as benzene and xylene. This chemical has been shown to have a transition state at room temperature and it was crystallographically determined that it contains a carbonyl group. The crystals of this compound are colorless and they have a melting point of 160°C.
