Descrizione:Vulgarin is a sesquiterpene lactone that has been shown to stimulate growth and promote the production of root powder. It is used as an ingredient in food compositions, such as ice cream, milk, cheese, and yogurt. Vulgarin also has pharmacological properties and can be extracted from plants using acetate extraction or preparative hplc. The chemical structure of vulgarin consists of two aromatic hydrocarbons with nitrogen atoms conjugated to form a linear structure. The major peaks observed in the nmr spectra are due to the presence of carbonyl groups (-C=O) and hydroxyl groups (-OH). A chromatographic method was used for the separation of crude vulgarin from plant extract.
