Descrizione

Ent-16beta,17-dihydroxy-19-kauranoic acid is a natural product that has been isolated from Helianthus annuus. It has significant activity against HIV replication and other organisms. This product inhibits the replication of HIV by interfering with the viral reverse transcriptase enzyme. Ent-16beta,17-dihydroxy-19-kauranoic acid also inhibits the replication of lymphocytes and other organisms through interactions with DNA polymerase, topoisomerase II, and RNA polymerase enzymes. This natural product is a diterpenoid that can be found in cherimoya and other fruits. The isolation process includes extraction with methanol followed by column chromatography on silica gel.
