- Diethyl (2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)phosphonate
Diethyl (2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)phosphonate is a molecule that can be used as an antioxidant. It is stable in the presence of many oxidizing agents and has shown to scavenge peroxyl radicals, hydroxyl radicals, singlet oxygen, and nitric oxide. Diethyl (2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)phosphonate also has chiral properties and can be used as a chiral catalyst for the polymerization of olefins. This molecule is soluble in water and other polar solvents. It also has a high absorption capacity for ultraviolet light. Diethyl (2-oxo-2-phenylethyl)phosphonate is metabolized by bacteria into diethyl phosphate, which is then hydrolyzed by esterases or glucuronidases to form phenol. This molecule also has antiplatelet activity and can inhibit blood platelet
