• Descrizione: Tentoxin is a plant extract that belongs to the Alternaria genus. It is extracted from the leaves of the plant, and it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in vitro. Tentoxin has been shown to inhibit cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), leukotriene B4 (LTB4), and thromboxane A2 (TXA2) production by rat liver microsomes. The mechanism of action for these effects is not known, but may be due to its ability to bind with COX-1 or COX-2 proteins in a competitive manner and block their enzymatic activity. Tentoxin also contains a cyclic peptide that inhibits α subunit of protein phosphatase 2A, which may contribute to its anti-inflammatory activities.
