Isogosferol is a natural compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used in traditional medicine as an anti-rheumatic, anti-arthritic, and anti-inflammatory agent. Isogosferol inhibits the efflux pump neobyakangelicol and suppresses the inflammatory response by inhibiting the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. This compound also inhibits the synthesis of oxypeucedanin and clausena, two compounds that are responsible for fluoroquinolone resistance in bacteria. Isogosferol is mediated by nitric oxide synthase inhibition and may be useful for treating bacterial infections.
