Descrizione:Pep2 is a potent, selective, and orally active positive allosteric modulator of the AMPA receptor. It binds to the GluR2 subunit at the synapse and increases the probability of glutamate release. Pep2-SVKI is a modified form of the peptide that has been shown to have potentiating effects on retinal ganglion cells in vitro. Pep2-SVKI is also able to induce depression in postsynaptic neurons by increasing potassium channel activity and reducing neurotransmitter release. The precise mechanism by which pep2-SVKI induces depression is not yet known, but it may be due to its ability to interact with cytosolic proteins or its potential interaction with cellular signaling pathways in neurons.
