Descrizione:Pico145 is a novel cation channel blocker that inhibits the influx of intracellular calcium ions. It has been shown to inhibit apoptotic cell death in mammalian tissue, as well as cancer cells. Pico145 binds to the hk-2 protein and blocks the opening of non-selective cation channels. This inhibition leads to an increase in cytosolic calcium ion concentration (Ca2+) and a subsequent activation of proapoptotic proteins such as p53, Bax, and Caspase-3.
