Descrizione:2-Cyclobutylcyclobutan-1-one is a monosubstituted cyclobutane with an argon atom at the 2 position. It has been synthesized by a two step procedure that starts with cyclobutanone, followed by the addition of a silicon in the presence of azides to form the final product. In x-ray crystal structures, it has been found that there are no interactions between the silicon and carbonyl groups. The steric interactions are only observed when cyclobutanone is used as starting material. The synthesis of this compound is not spontaneous and must be carried out in the presence of an azide. This compound has shown to be stereoselective and can be stabilized with potassium hydroxide.
