2-Ethylhexanamide is a fatty acid amide that is metabolized by the liver. It has been shown to have antiepileptic activity in animal models, and can be used as a substitute for phenytoin. 2-Ethylhexanamide is also metabolized to form an amide with chloride ions, which may be responsible for its anti-epileptic effects.
