It has been shown to be effective in humans with cirrhosis and women with cancer. 3’,5’-Diiodo-L-thyronine is metabolized by the liver and has a short half-life in the blood, which makes it desirable for treatment of thyroid insufficiency. This drug binds to serum proteins and may be affected by the matrix effect. The optimum pH for this drug is 7.3 and its serum levels are increased in people with high cholesterol.
