It has been shown to induce apoptosis in human cancer cells and inhibit tumor growth in animal models. D-Psicose 6-phosphate sodium salt is also a potent inhibitor of Dabigatran, a drug used for the prevention of blood clots. This compound has analogs that are being developed as potential inhibitors of other kinases involved in cancer progression. Additionally, D-Psicose 6-phosphate sodium salt has been found in urine and may have potential applications as an inhibitor of formoterol, a medication used for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
